Mother Tongue Languages Fortnight Learning Fest

To create a conducive environment to promote MTL usage and learning outside MTL classrooms, our school organizes Mother Tongue Language Fortnights and language & cultural camps annually.

The MTL Fortnight activities provide platforms for students to actively learn MTL and the associated culture so as to experience MTL as ‘living languages’.

Chinese Cultural Trail

Since 2008, the CL department has been using the C3 Experience to engage pupils in CL learning through customization, content integration and choice. This Experience allows pupils flexibility to select the content for learning centred on an identified theme. Differentiated worksheets supporting learning can be teacher or peer facilitated.

The learning of cultures and language is intertwined. At the end of their Primary Education, pupils will have experienced 6 different themes related to Chinese Cultures to lay the foundation needed to pursue the CL at a higher level.

Language Competitions

Through the various language competitions, we want to cultivate pupils’ passion for learning the Chinese Language and develop their interest towards Chinese culture.

Inter-class Talentime and creative advertisement competitions were held.

The popular Karaoke Competition was also held as language can be learnt through songs.

Pupils took part in the Penmanship competitions and received prizes from our Principal, Mdm Vimi!

P4 Chinese Language Camp

Every year, the P4 pupils participate in the annual language camp. A variety of language and cultural activities are organized to provide the opportunity for pupils to learn through play and build up their confidence in mastering the Chinese Language.

P3 to P5 Chinese Speech and Drama Enrichment Programme

Our P3 to P5 pupils participated in the Chinese Speech and Drama Enrichment Programme during Term 2 (for P3) and the June holidays (for P4 and P5). The programme aimed to foster pupils’ interest in learning Chinese, develop their expressive skills, build up their confidence in speaking and enable them to learn the value of teamwork through a variety of activities such as voice projection and role-playing. As a conclusion to the programme, the pupils staged a drama performance to showcase their talents.
