Basketball Club's Journey and Achievements

By Ms Lau 29 May 2015

BasketballJunior and Senior Girls

Since June 2014, the girls have been training diligently and tirelessly in preparation for the competition this year. Not knowing what lay ahead, improvement was their only goal. Stronger chemistry was fostered among the girls and better team dynamic was observed. As teachers, we saw vast growth in their skills and abilities. They started the season in January with expectant heart and we had high hopes for them.

During the Zonal matches, both the junior and senior girls exhibited their newfound potential by beating numerous competitors to emerge the 2nd runner-up in West Zone. With the boost in confidence, the Senior Girls went on defeat teams from the other zones and entered the National Finals for the first time in CPS history.

On 30April, all the pupils in Primary Six flooded Chua Chu Kang Sport complex to cheer for the Senior Girls. Their support was phenomenal and the school cheer could be heard during every interval break and there were countless words of encouragement.

Our Senior Girls concluded their journey in the inter-school basketball tournament as the National 1st Runner-up. Despite their best efforts, our girls lost to Choa Chu Kang Primary School by a close margin of 3 points. Regardless, this team of girls will always be the champion in our eyes. They strove hard together to give their best and we are indeed very proud of them!

Junior Boys

The newly formed Junior Boys went out for their first ever Basketball Competition. Throughout the competition, the boys demonstrated resilience as they met powerhouses such as Chua Chu Kang Primary School. Despite not being able to win any games, the boys are undaunted. They are now training harder than ever and are determined to bring glory to the school in the coming years.

Thank you!

The Basketball teachers would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all parents, school leaders, teachers and pupils for supporting the teams. Finally, to the players who have displayed exceedingly outstanding performances and fantastic attitudes in training and matches, well done! United we soar!
