Holistic Assessment @ Corporation Primary School

Assessment is an important aspect of teaching and learning. In our school, it is used to support the holistic development of our pupils. Our key focus is building on pupils’ confidence and desire to learn. Thus, our assessment focuses more on providing information on the learning progress of the child.

Teachers will use a range of assessment tools, including written and performance tasks to enable them to provide feedback on the pupil’s mastery of concepts and skills as well as his strengths and areas for improvement.

As parents, you can look forward to richer feedback on your child’s development and gain a more complete picture of his achievement and progress. We have also prepared an Assessment Portfolio for your child and it will be shared with parents once a term. Progress reports will be shown to parents with the portfolio once a term. The Portfolio contains a good sample of your child’s work and performance tasks in all subjects with graded rubrics and teacher’s qualitative comments.

We have focused our efforts on building children’s confidence and desire to learn by using a range of appropriate assessment modes and bite-sized forms of assessment for richer feedback on learning.

How you can help your child at home.

  1. monitor your child’s daily work

  2. give encouragement and support in areas for improvement

  3. praise your child for any progress made
